How To Easily Fix Enabling Simple File Sharing In Windows Vista

Here are some simple steps to fix the problem of enabling Easy File Sharing in Windows Vista.

1) First you need to successfully confirm that you have enabled file and printer sharing on the network card.Go to Start and right-click Network and, in this case, Properties.

2) The Network and Sharing Center window will open. Then click on “Manage Connections” in the left pane.

3) The network connections window will open. Here, right click on the network adapter you are currently using and select Properties.

5) Now go back to the Network and Sharing Center window and check the location of your computer’s infrastructure. I would really advise you to use a private network since you are using file sharing on the family home network. Note. Also, I would most likely advise you to set the same workgroup name for all computers on the shared network. This is a quick reference for setting up a name for “Computer” and just “Workgroup” in Windows Vista.

6) Then scroll down to the Sharing and Discovery section, stop sharing files, and also switch to password protected sharing. Click Apply for the changes to take effect and finally click OK next to each window.

7) Now let’s move on to sharing folders / files. Go to that specific folder containing the files you want to share, right-click that directory and select Share …

Note. Anyone can also make easy file sharing by right-clicking the folder and choosing Properties. I’ll tell you more about our extended shared file later.

8) The file exchange window will appear. Since you’ve turned off password-protected sharing, you can select Guest, Everyone (everyone in the user list), or other user accounts and click Add. In this case, I added the Guest user and then set the user’s permission. Finally, click Share to share.

Note. You can purchase these 3 options to set file permissions. Choose the one you need:

9) In the next window, you find that your folder is shared, select “Finish” to close the window.

10) If you then check the added folder, you will see that there are people # 2 on the icon at the bottom of the directory. After all, you canYou can access this shared folder from Vista, XP or another Windows operating system without user authentication. It’s a simple process to enable file sharing.

Note. In some cases, you will be asked for a username and password as this is just file sharing. You must enter the guest name without a password to access the shared folder.

Note. Don’t forget to disable this sale of files without the username and password authentication feature if you no longer need it.

Note. Right-click this folder, view the properties, and go to the Security Costs section. Check the group or usernames to see why you are allowed to access this folder, and make sure the user / group that you were allowed to access during the sharing process is also listed correctly (usually continues and automatically added when the folder is shared ) if you don t click “Edit” to add ignored users / groups. Please note that anyone can t get access to this folder.

If the qualified user / group you authorized during the sharing process does not match the user / group listed here, then any missing user may not see that shared folder at all! Or, the user is prompted to indicate that they may not have permission to connect to this network location when they try to get this shared folder from another computer.
