How can I find out if my webcam is UVC?
First try to find the Vendor ID (VID) as well as the Product ID (PID) of your webcam. Use the lsusb tool and look for video clip class interfaces like this: (In this example, VID is 046d and PID is 08cb.) If your device is a UVC device, you should see a lot of lines that look like this:

Is there a way to prevent uvcvideo from being loaded?
In one case, I found a uvcvideo-blacklist.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d. This delays the automatic loading of the uvcvideo module during startup. If the only uvcvideo blacklist path is commented out in this file, uvcvideo will be loaded automatically at startup.
