I decided to try the new 3DMark 2000 Mad Onion standard, which is used by the Max Payne Remedy / 3Drealms gaming site. Usually we are not interested in synthetic tests, but this one is usually based on a real application that will actually be released in the near future. This benchmark offers capabilities to measure fill rate, all slightly questionable T&L (hardware and / or software) benchmarks, and general 3D benchmarks with various gaming environments. The game claims the search engine has CPU-optimized pipelines for Intel x87, Intel KNI, AMD Athlon, and AMD 3DNow!
There are many benchmarks in 3DMark 2000, so I picked a few so you can get started with a file size of 1024 x 768. Initially I had computer data for all the resolutions we usually do, but that was too much and we I don’t want to miss the moment of testing by inundating you with too much information. 1024×768 is a pretty practical resolution for future graphics solutions, so let’s look at the results. Note,that the 3dfx VD3 3500 will not perform any tests normally associated with 3DMark 2000 testing. I am working on getting results for the next exam. It might be pilots, maybe, or it might be the norm as far as we know.
The 3DMark score is a score based on the performance of each card in the two graphics scenarios examined by 3DMark. The Geforce Winfast card outperforms the other two Geforce cards from the “standard” card slightly, but with a less than reasonable increase in the number of errors that show up in these tests. Two obvious sides are that GeForce cards come from everything, as the overclocked V6600 picks up about 10% of the performance.
Increasing the color depth up to 32-bit GeForce cards dramatically decreases performance.laxity due to minimization of SDRAM memory. However, the overclocked V6600 works like a mule, even though it was running SGRAM at 215 MHz.
Needless to say, 2000 looks even better than the beta.
