How Does Photonic Science’s Laue Camera Work?
Laue’s technique uses inverse imaging geometry. We use a low energy polychromatic x-ray beam that passes through a detector and a sample on the other side of the detector. This reflects the X-ray beam and creates targeted diffraction of the spots, which then hit the detector directly. An indication that this diffraction pattern is specific to each angle of the crystal, allowing scientists and material physicists to grow and cut crystals with electro-optical properties.

What Is Laue Diffraction?
The physics that helps the Laue camera work involves the interaction of X-rays with electron clouds on a single crystal or alloy. The reflected beam is registered A Laue detector when it obeys Bragg’s law, i.e. when the angle of incidence of the X-ray beam is such that the difference in the measurement of the X-ray path between crystal planes is a whole wavelength, so that there is constructive interference, which gives a diffracted beam. This is usually a relatively simple equation that scientists are likely to use to locate points based on a particular crystal orientation.
Laue Diffraction
X-ray diffraction occurs when a beam of X-rays shows a crystal. In the early days of crystallography by Dickinson’s student Bragg, Dickinson, and Pauling, Laue diffraction was considered widely used for structure semi-quantization using structures containing only a few atoms. In Laue diffraction, X-rays are polychromatic, having wavelengths from Δmin to Δmax, while the crystal is stationary throughout the study.
