To uninstall Windows Live programs, follow these steps, depending on the operating system that users are using.
Select the programs you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.
Windows Messenger, and therefore Windows Live Messenger, are useful programs for many instant messaging users. However, if you don’t use instant messaging, Messenger can quickly become a complete resource collector that can jump quickly at the most inopportune moment. Windows XP

The first step in finding Windows Messenger in Windows XP is to make sure you have the latest version of Windows installed. Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a later version of Windows Messenger can be easily removed from the Start menu.

For Windows Vista and 7, click the Start button or Control Panel. In the “Programs” section, select “Uninstall a program”. Select Windows Live Essentials and click Uninstall / Change. Select Uninstall one or more Windows Live programs, and then select Messenger. Click “Uninstall” to completely remove Windows Live Messenger from your computer.
Windows Messenger provides useful instant messaging programs in addition to Windows Live Messenger.
