1. I have extracted and renamedRenewed all my pages to be in .php format (keep your original HTML files in case it takes a while!)

2. I replaced all of my <#include virtual = "folder_name / filename -> ext” with

   with the appropriate number of dots and parts, depending on the location of the pages in the folder hierarchy. (The above is only used to denote a pin)

3. Finally, I renamed the original index.html to several others so that index.php is used instead of index.html.

This seems to work – I still want to test all pages and / or links – very tedious and time consuming!

Experiment NUMBER “…” AND NUMBER “///” IN THE SYSTEM ABOVE TO OBTAIN THE CORRECT COMBINATION !!!!

1. For me, all of my includes are small to medium sized HTML files in the ABC folder, which is usually directly below the Webroot.
2. For websites that are in ABC subfolders, that is in other folders directly in the web root directory, “..//” is the number of dots and also the forward slash that works.
3. Because the pages are right in the web root (that is, not just every folder in the web root), folder_name / filename.ext makes dots or slashes work.
4. I didn’t take the time to check the information about the dots and dashes needed for almost other levels of the hierarchy!

Are you using GoDaddy? They did the same to my site, and so I found someone on their forums who said they would use an include file instead of virtual embedding.

You just traded on Godaddy’s server and your own SSI is no longer working. I created your own .txt file with .the. Next:

I uploaded it to check .html .public .folder then. renamed .this. htaccess situation and everything started working.

I have too many files to convert all extensions to PHP, so I got this when it’s almost possible to find another answer.

Attaching to a virtual file include seemed to help for a while, but after a few days everything fell apart again. Guess Godaddy hasn’t finished fiddling with SSI setup yet. o_O

The solution after lunch was to transform all the absolute path information relative to the root of point. An example, because many had to help you convert:

With these instructions, I was able to embed HTML files in other HTML files.

I ran into this issue multiple times on my GoDaddy hosted website. I have to be on the server side, disable SSI config, save the settings, then re-enable SSI and just enable “Use SSI for .HTM and .HTML files” and it works again.

Malfunction on the GoDaddy side. For some reason it forgets that it should help scan SSI in files until you disable and enable ethat option. Their level 2 support suggested using Virtual instead of File in the enable instructions … which is absurd since it not only really changes something, but enabled SSI works fine most of the time … until it stops working …

I also upgrade the old .html pages to .php and replace some of them with Perl include directives on all pages if some of them showed up in the [error processing this directive] pages.

Pages with an additional error point to the old .ssi file, not even the directory in which they were fixed. I removed the old dozen page inclusion policy in a non-existent .ssi file, which fixed the error.
