The Microsoft DirectX® End User Runtime installs a number of legacy DirectX SDK runtime libraries for specific games that use D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11, XAudio 2.7, XInput 1.3, XACT, and / or Managed DirectX 1.1. Please note that this package does not in any way modify the DirectX runtime installed on your Windows operating system.
Microsoft DirectX is a set of programming interfaces (APIs) for handling multimedia tasks, in particular game and video programming, on Microsoft platforms. Originally all the names of these APIs started with “Direct” simply because of DirectDraw, direct3d, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound and so on Later. The name DirectX was coined almost as a short form for all APIs (X stands for a specific name) api and quickly became the name of a collection. When Microsoft set out to develop gaming technologies tomorrow, X was used as the basis for the Xbox name to indicate when the console was based on DirectX technology. [2] The original X has been ported to naming APIs dedicated to Xbox persistence, such as XInput and most cross-platform audio creation tools (XACT), while the DirectX model is usually retained for many Windows APIs. such as Direct2D and DirectWrite.
Direct3D (DirectX 3D Graphics API) is widely used in MMorpgs video development for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox line of consoles. Direct3D is also used in other application software for rendering and lettering tasks such as CAD / CAM design. Since Direct3D is the most widely used DirectX-related component, each of our names and “directx” is used interchangeably with “Direct3D”, DirectX.
A Product Development Kit (SDK) consists of libraries for reading inA redistributable binary form, as well as accompanying documentation and headers for use in encoding. Originally, the runtime was clearly only hosted by the games or the visitor. Windows 95 did not start with DirectX, but DirectX was included in Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2. [3] Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 came with DirectX, as have all versions of Windows since then. The SDK is available for free download up to date. Although the runtimes are proprietary and closed source software, source code is provided to create most of the SDK samples. Since the release of Windows 8 Developer Preview, the DirectX SDK has been integrated with the built-in Windows SDK. [4]
Development Process
In 1994, the late Microsoft released Windows 95, its next working system. An important factor in determining consumer merit was what programs were capable of doing. In conversations with various commercial developers, Microsoft employee Alex St. John asked how likely they would be to create their MS-DOS games under Windows 95, and received mostly negative responses; Prog The Gammists found the Windows environment more difficult to develop than MS-DOS or several other gaming platforms. A notable case related to this comes from Disney’s animated storybook The Lion King, which was based on the WinG API. With a plethora of incompatible graphics drivers from new Compaq computers that weren’t tested with the WinG Town that came with the game, the site crashed so often on desktop devices that parents flooded asking for Disney help on line. [5] [6]
Art. Realizing that resistance to developing Windows games would be the limit, John hired two more engineers, Craig Eisler and Eric Engstrom, to find a better solution to get more programmers into developing Windows games. The project was codenamed Manhattan Project because, compared to the WWII project of the same name, the idea was to bring game consoles developed in Japan to their PCs running a Microsoft system. Es [5] Initially, the expert used the radiation symbol as his ownLogo, but Microsoft asked the team to change the logo. The leadership of [5] disagreed with the project as it is currently abandoning Windows as a game-sharing platform, but all three have embarked on the development of this society. [6] Their rebellious nature led Brad Silverberg, Microsoft’s senior vice president of desktop environments, to what the trio dubbed the Beastie Boys. [7]
Most of 2’s work was done in parallel with other assigned projects that were created by the end of 1994. [6] Three months later and with hardware from A Multiple vendors, the team developed an original set of application programming interfaces (APIs), which they in turn presented at the 1995 Game Developers Conference. The [6] SDK contained libraries such as DirectDraw for graphics. routines, DirectSound for speech, DirectPlay and for network communications. The “direct” portion of the library was named simply because these routines usually bypass the Windows 93 kernel routines and access the computer hardware directly. Although the team n Called the name “Game the SDK” (Software Development Kit), the “DirectX” trademark came from a reporter ridiculing the naming scheme of various libraries. The team that decides to move on can use this naming scheme, and you will see the DirectX project. [5]
The first version of DirectX was released as the Windows Games SDK in September 1995. This was a Win32 update for DCI [8] and WinG API under Windows 3.1. DirectX allowed all versions associated with Microsoft Windows from 95, Windows and up to integrate powerful multimedia. Eisler wrote on his blog about all the fuss of multiple people creating 1 directory. [9]

To provide developers with more information on Board DirectX, Microsoft reached out to id Software’s John Carmack and offered to migrate Doom and Doom 2 from MS-DOS to DirectX for free, retaining all rights to create the game for id. Carmack agreed, and Microsoft’s Gabe Newell took over the project port. The first game was released under the name Doom August 95 in 1996 and became the first downloadable DirectX game. Microsoft promoted the game a lot, and Bill and Gates appeared in advertisements developed for the game. [5]
DirectX 2.0 is nowWindows itself running Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows NT 4.0 in mid-1996. Since Windows 95 itself was still new and only a few games were released for it, Microsoft was involved in an intense DirectX marketing campaign aimed at developers who usually did not trust Microsoft’s ability to create any platform for Windows. Alex St. John, a DirectX evangelist, hosted an elaborate event at the 1996 Gaming Computer Developers Conference, which game developer Jay Barson called

In 2002, Microsoft provided DirectX 9 support for running much longer shader programs than the Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.0 variants.
Download the DirectX9 installer package.Run directx.exe.Read the license agreement. In the corresponding new window, click the “Browse” button and select the folder where your site would like to successfully unpack the installation files.Make sure you select the correct file path and click OK.
Most of the debugging features associated with tools for Direct3D no longer help or work on modern versions of Windows. D3DX9, Direct3D 9 Repair Utilities Library, Direct3D 9 HLSL Compiler, DirectX SDK itself, and DirectSetup REDIST are deprecated.
