This guide was created to help you if you receive the kde error dcopserver error code. KDE apps communicate with klauncher via DCOP to launch new apps or services. Better to read the error message: KLauncher may not always be accessible via DCOP, which indicates either a serious problem with the dcop server or sometimes Klauncher crashed. klauncher can be restarted from the modules window by restarting kdeinit.

That being said, I saw that almost everyone loves Amarok, so this is what I got for my laptop running Ubuntu 7.10. I installed it quite easily, but on startup I get an error that DCOPerver never starts. When I type it in my terminal I get this long thing referring to everything I don’t understand

I would make it shorter, but honestly, I don’t know what is needed and what is not. Any help with this error would be great as I think all KDE programs use this website and hope that one solution will take care of all of them. Thanks.

I recently started getting DCOP to get update errors when trying to run the awesome KDE program in GNOME. This screenshot of the error is about calcium, but it’s not that small.
I get an error and the program works normal. It’s pretty boring.
I recently had this error. To fix this problem, you just need to remove duplicate DCOP file contents from the files. The current home directory contains files that often start with “.DCOP” and need to be removed. There may also be some mp3 files in “.ICE” format:
After uninstalling, log out, restart or. You can safely delete these files because KDE recreates them on login.

I got the same error when starting Amarok. This is for research the DCOP server can do. I’ve gone through everything about DCOP files, but I also try not to get them …
I just put it aside. Hope this works for you. I noticed that it was trying to create files in my /home/user/.kde folder, but since I was running it under a normal account, it could not get permission to create information in that directory. So I can just change ownershipthe normal most important user using “chown user: group /home/user/.kde” and ordering all folders below and now my Amarok .Of is working.
None of the above solutions work for me, and after that I have exactly the same error rate. I deleted the I CE file but it didn’t work. I also ran the chown command, but it didn’t work. Any other ideas?
A good general idea for things that are causing errors is a way to reinstall them using Synaptic. This has worked for other problems in other programs in the past.
When other people run into this problem and the above solutions shouldn’t work for you, start your own discussion thread! I am very confident that others will help you with this. I would probably hate it if someone grew up to solve the problem, because the company asked for help with a missing topic.
just restart your computer. that’s okay for me. (I find this in the Chinese community for the ie8 advice.)
I had to add this recursive option (-R) to the chown command to make sure it works, but: it helps! Thank you 🙂
SpaAnyone else, I also fixed this by deleting the .kde folder from my hands at home. I got this problem with Asus eee 4g (Xandros).

Removing the real .kde folder from the home folder seems to have helped. It was
(I used the suggested chown command unsuccessfully until it got difficult)
Do other programs use this directory to store information? Basically what I’m asking is a real event that this fix could potentially break several things.

I am actually trying to sync an iPod nano (5th generation) with an Asus Eee PC running Ubuntu. I’ve scoured the forums and couldn’t find this morning how to see the command line, but I can try some of the following pointers.

Please check if most of the “dcopserver” program is running!
I cannot find these files directly and nI’m trying to get rid of them.
I went around looking for what was wrong – it turned out that I was running out of space in the / home partition
Check if you have enough storage space in case you are out of luck with one of our suggested solutions.
K3b works for Karmika. I had to try Nautilus from root using sudo, then expand permissions for all folders, and the subfolder files in the .kde file in / home /
