It looks like some users have come across an error message stating that Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 has stopped working on Windows 8. This issue is caused by several factors. Let’s look at them now.
Yes, yes, I know. Windows 8.1 is a junk. I don’t want to hear about it.
I was able to play RCT3 on Steam without any problems until the night Microsoft 8.1 was forcefully started (with Windows 8 [.0]).
If the whole game tries to start now, it comes into conflict. It changes the screen resolution (from 1980 x 1080 to the set resolution of 1440 x 900), the computer screen goes black, (the LCD should then be black for you (LCD is on), I’m pretty sure DirectX will start. And I can see how the mouse pointer has changed according to its settings. But it immediately crashes with the typical “Tycoon 3 roller coaster has stopped working” message from your window error window.
I got the latest Windows improvements, including those related to 8.1 boot errors.
I uninstalled the game and loaded the game from scratch after reading that it could be registry keys, but to no avail.
I have unsuccessfully updated my own update drivers (especially the graphics card driver). I tried booting in compatibility mode (Win about 8, Win 7 and Win XP sp 3) but couldn’t find anything.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have system restore points until 8.Recent 1, d sufficient to rollback to 8.0
I read somewhere that DirectX9 may not work, but I think RCT3 will work with DirectX10
