Problem with SIP service: 480 Temporarily unavailable
I have just started using iptel.org SIP services. I need a good SIP provider with symmetrical NAT traversal support (for example, with a media relay). However, I’m having strange problems with incoming
calls to my SIP address. Sometimes calls go through, but often
the caller gets a “480 is temporarily unavailable” message. What is happening
and what can I do to prevent it?

I’ve tried updating several sections in the outbound proxy, transport, timeout

I do not have a laptop; I’m hosting this from a workstation but working with

Hmm, it’s quite possible that the program is weird. I see SJPhone

I know that SIP signals have to go through my system to some extent

480 Temp means that IPtel has an IP address that it uses when you need to contact your SIP
endpoint, but this is no guarantee. It seems to me that the new hole in the firewall has been closed. Get a laptop and a hub and plug them in where there might be a SIP endpoint. If this is your laptop, you don’t need a hub. Download Wireshark and verify that SIP signaling
definitely reaches your endpoint.
