The laptop / motherboard BIOS should support bootable USB sticks – this should be the case for most models, which are unfortunately not older than 4-5 years. If the USB stick is recognized during the snowmaking process, the BIOS integrates it as a removable disk or as a retail disk.
BIOS Ultimate Boot version: – usbdos (the folder contains hidden files! System ms-dos command.com, io.sys and except msdos.sys) – HP_USB_Disk_Storage_Format_Tool v2.2.3.exe (Hewlett-Packard Format Utility for Ultimate USB Drives) Download BIOS Boot Edition – 1.2 MB
Flashtool – pro BIOS programming software (.EXE as file extension) that programs Filebios on the BIOS and Filebios chip. Both files must be downloaded: – The motherboard is purchased in its original packaging: on the website of the manufacturer of this motherboard, or – Laptop or Designer PC: from the site for creating branded laptops / PCs. Both files must be specially designed for the DOS operating system! If the manufacturer creates files only for Windows, you will need to either update the BIOS directly in Windows, flash an unnecessary BIOS chip, or buy a new programmed BIOS chip.
Open Ultimate BIOS-Boot-Edition and boot_usb_stick.Le.
Copy the usbdos folder to your hard drive.
Run USB HP Disk Storage Format Tool.
Select your USB storage device under Device.
Select FAT-32 in the file system and select the Create DOS Bootable Disk check box.
Paste the path to your USB-DOS into a folder using the DOS action files located at:
Click the Start button, then wait for the tool to format the person’s USB drive and copyThere are 3 exercise files.
If you receive more than 8 characters (not all file extensions!), rename your company’s flash tool file name and BIOS file.
Copy Flashtool and BIOS files to USB stick.
First go to BIOS setup and change the boot sequence to USB stick / drive (look for options such as boot sequence, first device, boot, etc.).
Insert a USB stick and restart your computer. If done correctly, MS-DOS will start and you should be able to see the famous DOS prompt (C: >) very well.
The client can now initiate a BIOS update. Remember, backing up your old BIOS is a really good idea.

Is BIOS update good or bad?
Installing (or “flashing”) your new BIOS is more dangerous than updating a simple Windows program, and if something goes wrong, you can freeze your computer. Since BIOS updates usually don’t introduce new features or significant speed increases, you probably won’t see much benefit anyway.
Dear forum members, I have a satellite number PSLB9U-047011 Toshiba Pro L300-EZ1521, which is marked with the Toshiba logo. I took out all the hard drives and plugged them into another laptop [like an external AS drive] to test them. The hard drive looks great because I can view, copy, edit and enjoy my music files. I have tried all the key pairs F2, F12, FN + F, C + 0 Power, + Power without success. The only keys that seem to work are CTRL + ALT + DEL when restarting the laptop, then the CAPS LOCK, FN keys. Maybe the problem is in the BIOS? Can this be passed to BIOS via update / flash / restore? Your help is greatly appreciated. Hi KileM

Hey I get a constant frustrating software error, I pick whatever I need for the software and create a new USB, but when I click “Format” when the prompt “Formatting disk error” appears.

When I use Winphlash on Windows, I get an error in the checksum function (104) of the variable. I tried Winphlash16 with a Rufus bootable USB stick but the BIOS ROM file could not be opened.

So very close … follows the simple startup instructions used in dos, ‘PHLASH16 6912.ROM’ (Phoenix dos Tool). … utility work It was fine, but it hung with the error “Unable to flash memory with loaded managers, HIMEM”. Not sure how to disable HIMEM, suggestions?

@sslinux Use a different USB port in 2015 and it could be a PS / 2 keyboard or another USB 2.0 port (not 3.0 !).
