Can a PC boot from a SD card?

To do this, see the entire guide below: Restart your computer and press the BIOS key as usual during the boot process. You can find a unique BIOS key for your PC model on the Internet.
I have a FAT32 phone card that, when inserted into my computer, prompts Windows to format it. First of all, the map should not be empty and contain a lot of information.
Using a hex editor/ disk viewer, I examined some kind of map and found that several sectors / clusters were overwritten by something having some kind of USBC
signature when starting a sector. In particular, the main boot option (and the partition table) is gone (which is why Windows indicates the card is empty and needs to be formatted), as well as the sneaker sectors (they have USBC
– Signature combined with volume label < code> NO and the name of the partition type FAT32
).

Fortunately, it seems that both copies of FAT is almost completely untouched (some FAT entries here and there concerning the launch of the cluster, seem simply overwritten USBC
). The root directory is almost intact – I can see the volume name entry and subdirectory lists, but the sector is overwritten. (FAT2 no longer has USBC
instances after the last one.)
These observations seem to indicate a type of virus that removes some of the underlying structures of the filesystem and then overwrites some of the outermost sectors here and there. Search it on Google to confirm the idea of herpes simplex virus besides others reporting a file named USBC
, which does not apply here, combined with the actual one, may not be possible, because then no filesystem even allows files to be scanned. I cannot find any information close to a virus with these symptoms or an important removal program. (I can’t help but worry if this is actually your auto-launching antivirus.)
I can probably handle FAT corruption as it is contiguous lines and maybe even a compressed sector of the root directory, but how can anyone know a practical way to repair the MBR or (re) create? / partition table with boot sectors (no formatting and overwriting your data)?
