The time limit has expired and I just saw my first message “There were files with parsing errors” in the DNG. I went through all the selection steps (rename, metadata, keywords, categorization and customization, etc.) and then put a folder of 600 Canon RAW files into a DNG converter and got about 30 photos of a person with this error. I can use your windows. in perfectOn a dangerous bridge. What could be the nature of the problem and is there a solution? What does this guarantee? Are the images bad? Very grateful for any help ……
Rick McCleary:
I’m not sure what is almost certainly causing your specific problem, but a popular recommendation is to have no more than 300 files per folder when using DNG.
Annbrooks:
I had the same problem with DNG. “Error parsing files …” I recently converted RAW_110_060207, a suitable container with seven subfolders. This is all converted to a sixth file with 20 images, where none were analyzed, and a seventh folder with sixty-six images, where 19 were converted and layers were not.
Unfortunately, I just went back to the 20frame RAW file mentioned above to convert it to DNG only and immediately got a parsing error message for 20. I searched all the files again in Bridge and realized that these are 20 files. I couldn’t apply the CR settings, just the raw “default cameras” were greyed out. But I know I had a problem that all the images in the file were CR and some DNG handles were nothave been transformed.
In the past, for case studies, I’ve converted 500-600 image sets, split 145 and 400 or 250 and 250 +/- into two subfolders, and converted them all without issue.
Digging deeper, it looks like I’m running into some problems.
1. Why 20 out of 250 files didn’t apply CR when everything in the file was applied, and when I went back to apply CR to everyone, Camera Raw Default Settings were greyed out.
2. I had other files that, when returning from RAW to DNG, all were converted except 17-20, one into a working bin file with two files of two hundred and fifty each. Why ?
1. Make sure you are using the latest DNG converter files (3.4), select PhotoMechanic or iView to add metadata, when did you do that?)
2. If you see any errors, be sure to report the damage. Do not delete old versions of files, especially on the card (if possible).
3. Write down any files that are out of order. The first thing I would do is design them in Camera Raw and render them 100%. If they look good in Camera Then Raw, you boochildren breathe easier. In this case, you might find an insect in the program.
4. If the files are * open * as part of Camera Raw, you can create DNG files from there (Save button).
5. If the record data is open in try cr, this. Take XMP files from your image directory and try converting them to DNG with a DNG converter. If it works without delay (and you are using the latest version), send me the XMP files and I will forward them to Thomas Noll.
6. If your computer doesn’t open in full quality in Camera Raw (or doesn’t open at all in CR mode), you may have a problem with corrupted files. If you want to find previous versions of a file, try testing it.
7. If the files have already been deleted from the original maps, you can try to recover them with PhotoRescue.
8. Try opening other files with the software. Start with the manufacturer’s software – you can also try it yourself.
If the above helps, let them know exactly where the problem is.
