How Do I Create Multiple Partitions On A USB Stick In Windows 10 Only?
Let’s try to create some partitions associated with a USB storage device in Windows 10. Let’s assume that a primary partition has already been created on a USB storage device, which usually takes up the entire space of a USB storage device. We will compress it and create the following (and next) sections:
- Connect the USB support to the USB port of the computer;
- Format the USB drive with an NTFS file gadget, then open the Disk Management Console (diskmgmt.msc);
- Right-click the USB storage section and select the “Volume Down” option from the perspective menu;

Why would a person need multiple partitions on a USB drive?
- If the USB stick will be used in different operating systems with different data systems (for example, Windows and Linux / Android);
- The easiest way to hide topic data from a USB stick;
- If you are using a USB stick to start and restore Windows on UEFI computers. The fact is that a computer with UEFI can only boot from a FAT32 drive. However, you cannot put a file larger than 4 GB in it (limitation of the FAT32 file program). Therefore, you need to split the Install windows.wim file into several parts (see example here), create a second NTFS partition on a specific bootable USB device, and copy the WIM / ESD file configured there.
