1. Open a good report in Crystal Reports. Next
2. displays an error message: “OLE Object Error” followed by the “Cannot Open Report” permission.

• Obstacles arise because the OLE object inserted into the report is based on a specific version of Microsoft Office (Office).
  Example: the report was developed on a netbook with Microsoft Office 97 installed.

• A deadlock script describes the situation in which this type of error can occur:
• The OLE object was first inserted into the report from the file Office 97, for example Microsoft Word (Word) 97. Then Office 2000 was installed on the computer.
• Difficulty opening a report containing a new Word 97 OLE object. These errors occur because the OLE server could not be opened.

• To resolve this issue, insert the object as a bitmap instead of the Word OLE object.

• To add a bitmap to the report, do the following:

1. Start Crystal Reports.
2. Choose Image from the Insert menu.
3. Navigate from “Open” in the main window to the folder where the snapshot is located.
4. Click the bitmap file to use it and click OK.
