We are moving everyone to new domain controllers and have started eliminating WINS. We set our DHCP to range 0x2 to disable it. Seniors (XP and older) used WINS. Remember that with good DNS it shouldn’t Be higher. My company has tried this before with problems, but remember that everything still looks good. We disabled it on domain controllers and found no other issues. Usually now it is first disabled on the client via DHCP, and in the next step NETBIOS is also disabled via TCPIP and LLMNR.
