Here are some simple steps that can help you resolve the “degraded nvidia mirror” error message.
The following article shows you how to recover a damaged NVidia MediaShield RAID array.
NOTE. Almost all of the instructions that can be found on the Internet and even in the manual are absolute, contradictory, or confusing. The following procedure will usually get you on the right track.
First, a few definitions. A degraded RAID does not mean that one particular SMART error has been detected, as some (myself included) might think. It simply means that your RAID array is NOT WORKING. They only work with certain hard drives.
Which hard drive failed and why? You won’t be told about trashy consumer-grade RAID (unlike a dedicated card raid, or possibly a server). Your computer no longer jeopardizes two additional hard drives. They now appear in Windows (or BIOS) as two separate hard drives with (hopefully) identical contents.

Fortect is the world's most popular and effective PC repair tool. It is trusted by millions of people to keep their systems running fast, smooth, and error-free. With its simple user interface and powerful scanning engine, Fortect quickly finds and fixes a broad range of Windows problems - from system instability and security issues to memory management and performance bottlenecks.
When usingConsumer RAID, you will still not receive notifications that the failed RAID and the best hard drive will not be used (since this point is offline, that is, with professional RAID). If you don’t press F10, the computer will be able to start Windows from behind the disks. Who? This is usually not a problem due to the order in which the sata cables were connected to my motherboard. Or, if one hard drive accepts the “boot” flag and the other does not, that will determine the choice. Be aware, however, that the hard drive that Windows sometimes tries to boot from can become the hard drive causing the array to crash due to physical issues with the primary hard drive. How do you know?
You can often run a quick SMART BIOS check before starting your computer, or your company can remove the hard drives, link them to another computer as an additional (external) hard drive, and run SMART diagnostics or something else. testing. If you’re patient, recommend running a SMART scan to see which hard drive has the most mismatch and other errors, followed by another chkdsk / R, and then an absolute comparison of the two file structures for enforcement.
If a professional sees a seriously defective product, they will replace the defective disk and save it for backup. The new large disk is then placed in a specific array. After setting up the RAID array, you should have spare generators.
Note. The second hard start may not be visible to you, for example, for Windows. Right-click “Computer” and select the “Manage” section. Choose Storage> Disk Management. The second might log out with an exclamation mark. Simply put, when Windows complains about covering signature conflicts with another hard drive, it means that it is complaining that more hard drives in the system are exactly the same as those on the manufacturer ID label. Yes, this is the stupidest Windows content error. If you just drop the warning, you will need to make this drive available for Windows in the marketplace.
If you replace a failed drive or find that both SMART, besides chkdsk, did not report any significant problems with any of the disks, you can now rebuild the array.
NOTE. To restore the array, you need to configure NVidia panel control and install the correct MediaShield driver in Windows. The array is NOT RECOVERED from BIOS (or MediaShield Post-BIOS screen). You can START the rebuild method from the screen, but the rebuild can be done with Windows loaded and the NVidia MediaShield driver running.
It is much more intuitive and easier to rebuild the array from the Storage Configuration section of the NVidia control panel. However, if you now see this section, the nature of the following procedure shows how to prevent an array from recovering from BIOS.
1. Both of you should have thoroughly checked the target hit, no SMART errors or errors reported by chkdsk.
2. For more helpful information, see the article on initializing a RAID. For more information on RAID recovery, see your motherboard user guide or use the user guide I provided.
3. Recover the sheet of paper described in the initialization article. For example, your note says:
If you choose to restore abundance using the original disks (which originally hosted the array), one of the disks will be removed from the plan and overwritten with data from all other disks. You must be absolutely sure which reader you want to designate as the “main” “healthy reader”. This action will erase both disks. Instead, I recommend that you sell an empty hard drive for a change and store the UNSAFE CLONE in its ESD messenger bag in a safe place as a backup for your RAID array.
4. Press F10 after the BIOS boots and anytime the MediaShield screen appears before Windows boots.
After the array degrades, and since only two have been trained (0 gradient lists and 1 gradient), you cannot press [R] to fix this by simply selecting an item in the specific list and pressing Enter to enter the details … Description. This is the most confusing part of the recovery process. MediaShield now treats two separate drives as DV SEPARATE ARRAY, so pressing [R] to restore has an absolute effect. This is silly; The option is probably not showing.
To restore abundance, follow these steps. Highlight the OLDED CLONE hard drive entry in the list and press Enter to access the detailed data. Click to delete [d] our own “array” of shared hard drive. Note. ALL DATA associated with this hard drive will be deleted and replaced with data from the other hard drive.
After erasing one faulty disk, you will see the “array” directory site. It should consist of a MASTER OF HEALTH. Press Enter to access the detailed MASTER Healthy list.
You will now often select the PREVIOUS DEPRECATED CLONE as the “available” drive for the corresponding array. Select an available HD and press A to add it.
A green pop-up window “Rebuild Array?” Press ENTER to confirm the action.
A large pop-up should appear on the taskbar indicating that it has been restored. It started. Now you can open the NVidia control panel and check the memory status in the configuration section. (If this section is empty, you will often read my article on reinstalling MediaShield). The recovery procedure clones the hard drive. It will take a long time if your current hard drive size and usage is huge. On some computers, disable the hibernation time so that the computer does not go into hibernation or hibernation mode until the end of the cloning series.
