This guide describes some of the possible causes that might cause the installation of file servers in Windows Server 2008, and then describes some possible fixes that you can try to resolve the issue.

To organize File Server Resource Manager in Windows Server 2008 R2, simply click Roles in Server Manager and then click Add Roles. Click the Before You Begin dialog box. On the View Server Roles screen, click File Services, and then click Next. Just click Next on the File Services screen.

File Server – allows you to share files and versions using the Storage and Sharing Management Console
Distributed File System (DFS) – allows you to replicate copies of shared folders across multiple servers in the same namespace
Resource managerFile Services Prs (FSRM) – allows you to measure files and set quotas
Netowork File System (NFS) – Allows you to define Samba shares for sharing files with Linux and Unix systems.

Install Services
- Navigate to the file to see Server Manager . Select Roles on the left and click Add Roles
- In the Add Roles Wizard, under Server Roles, select the check box under File Services
- Now, under File Services> Role Services, select the services you want to restore under File Services. Then select the next click:
– File Server
– Distributed File System, DFS Namespaces and Replication
– Resource manager for dfs file server
– Network File System Services (useful for connecting Linux users to the network)
– File replication service (if available) - Under DFS Namespaces, select the option to Create Namespace Later Using Current Administrative ToolsDFS stacks “and click Next
- Click Next
- In the confirmation window, select Install and close
in the main window area.
