Recently, some of our readers told us that they experimented with a free antivirus for Windows 2003.
I am using this webserver which serves a website. I need a dedicated free antivirus. What are the best antivirus strategies:
- Free
- Don’t use too many resources.
- Available in Windows Server 2003

ClamWin is always the best option. There are very few resources and it is free / open source. I use it to scan emails from multiple server connections.

I’m ready and working, but I don’t think there are any special anti-virus programs that are free programs for business use. Mostabout freeware programs are useless anyway.

Do you use Clam to routinely scan email on mail servers? I thought * that Clam is a real-time antivirus scan of the operating system.

I understood what I was thinking. ClamWin (free) does NOT perform real-time scans.
From your personal site:
Please note that Free clamwin Antivirus does notcontains a real-time scanner on access. Buyers must manually scan the file into the framework for viruses or spyware.
I usually use ClamWin for spot scanning servers, but not as my primary antivirus solution.

Yes, but for the normal protection of marriage, this is not useful as it does not scan in real time.

As far as I know, Comodo AntiVirus is my only real-time scanner that can be used in any way for free. I use it in these dedicated labs to save on licensing costs and it’s good for the free option.

I just wanted to say that I don’t recommend Vipre at all. A below average AV (usually below average in comparative AV tests). He crossed our network (Vobfus) for several reasons, and also allowed for quite powerful scanning of mail and file servers. The real reason it’s still installed on our network is because our old sysadmin sold his boss on Vipre, but we still have it by appointment, we’re using it. Control panel type normal …
