I definitely had Ubuntu on my machine, and when I googled stuff like this, I had no luck…
Edit: I have Windows 7 and tried a fresh clean install anyway and got lucky. Has been working for over a year. but it’s rare that I don’t deal with a problem, but now I’m finally tired of some nonsense.

Two years ago I installed Ubuntu Vista, and on a complex 40 GBI didn’t have any problems with it on the IDE drive, just the fact that I installed it as a corporate slave drive and it works great for me because I sometimes use it connected and disconnected when I wanted to. I would choose Ubuntu (obviously) or Vista, not Ubuntu Grub XP.
Note: this is never my food, I just took it straight from the internet. I would say
Windows XP Media Center Edition and
Vista (charger)
So there were no problems.
Three weeks ago I installed Vista and along with it Ubuntu 8.04 on an 80gb sata hard drive, everything is ok in the configurations so there was no problem when I turned on my computer, in this case the Ubuntu grub appeared everywhere
