You can export a hit movie to save a copy in a specific resolution or file format. Your movie will be exported as QuickTime TV (.mov) using the H.264 or HEVC codec. Movies that are best exported as audio are exported as MPEG4 audio files. QuickTime Player does not export MP4 movies.
Some movies may take longer to export than others. To see how the file is exported, choose Window> Show Export Progress.
If you do not see any alternatives in the export menu, it may well be because the recording is copyrighted and, moreover, cannot be redistributed.
