If your goal is to create an authoritative DNS zone for a new or different domain name, customers will need to set up a forward lookup zone. To simplify the definition, let’s split this term into two tasks; Advanced search and zone:
• Direct lookup Direct lookup refers to how the DNS server resolves a hostname to an IP address. Move name facility to IP.
• Zone A zone is a section that affects the contiguous namespace in which a computer is granted permission and DNS queries are resolved. Customize
Follow the steps in Exercise 6.02 to create a new forward DNS lookup zone.

This article will walk you through the easiest way to set up a secondary DNS server, step by step.
Determine Your Current Server Alias
Define a secondary name server on the primary DNS device. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, select Administrative Tools and click DNS.
The console tree specifies the host extension (where hostname is the hostname of most DNS servers).
In the console, expand Live Zones.
Right-click the area you and your family have (for example, example.com ), then click Properties.
Click the Name tab, Server, then click Add.
In the Server fully qualified domain name (FQDN) field, enter the server hosta that you want to add to the Marketplace.
For example, enter namesvr2.example.com .
In the IP section, enter the IP address of the device, the address of the state server you want to offer (for example, 192.168.0.22) and click Add.
Click OK, then OK.
In the Console Specifications, click Reverse Lookup Zones, right-click the desired location and select Properties.
Click the Name tab, Server, then select Add.
How do you create a forward and reverse lookup zone?
Server Name is typically the hostname of the server that customers want to add.
For example, namesvr2.example.com .
In the IP This IP Address field, enter the address associated with the nameserver you are adding (for example, 192.168.0.22), then click Add.

Install DNS On This Specific Secondary Nameserver
Log in as an administrator.
Click Start, select Control Panel and click Or Add Programs.
Click Add Remove Windows Components.
In the list under Components, clickEnter “Online Services” (do not click to select a payment field, and do not click to clear it) and then click “Details”.
Select the DNS (Common Domain Name System) check box, then click OK.
On the Windows Components page, click Next.
Insert the Windows 2003 Server CD when prompted and click OK.
On the Completing the Windows Components Wizard page, click Finish.
Click Close.
DNS is currently installed. To launch the snap-in, click Start DNS, select Administrative Tools and click DNS.
Set Up Direct Search Scope
To set up a forward lookup box on a valid name server, follow these steps:
Log in as a good new administrator on the secondary name server.
Click Start, select Administrative Tools and in this case click DNS.
In the console tree, under DNS, click Hostname (where hostname is actually the hostname of the DNS server).
Click in the tree structure of the direct search area.
Right-click “Zones nTransfer, find and select New Zone.
After restarting the zone wizard, click Next to continue.
Click Secondary Zone, then click Next.
Enter the current zone name in the Name field (for example, example.com ), then click Next.
On the Primary DNS Server IP Address page, enter the primary nameserver address for this level, click Add, Next, and then Finish.
Set Up Reverse Zone Lookup
To set up a reverse zone lookup on a secondary domain name server, follow these steps:
Click Start, select Administrative Tools and click DNS.
In the entire console tree, click Hostname (where Hostname is the hostname of your own server) DNS.
Forward Lookup Zones – Forward Lookup Zones allow the Marketplace DNS Server to resolve queries in which the client sends a new name to the DNS server to address the requested coordinator IP address. They return the fully qualified Internet site name (FQDN) of a specific IP address. For example, a client might have a full IP address of 69 163.
In the console tree, click Reverse Lookup Zones.
Right-click on “Reverse Lookup Zones” and simply select “New Zone”.
Customize the advanced search box Click the Start button, select Administrative Tools and click DNS. In the device tree, under DNS, click Host Term (where Hostname is the hostname, including the DNS server). In the console jaw tree, click Forward Viewing Zones. Right-click Live Zones and select New Zone.
When starting a new zone, click Next in the wizard to continue.
Click Sub Section, then click Next.
In the “Network ID” field enterEnter the Network ID (eg 192.168.0) and click Next.
