There are actually two ways to install a newer Linux kernel: manually load the DEB file to create a new Linux kernel and install it in the terminal. Use a graphical tool like Ukuu and install a new Linux kernel.
How are we allcan we add a kernel to grub2? I knew what we could do with the old major releases, but in reality, it seems like things have changed. What files do we need to edit?

I am using Fedora 20 and the command to update grub2 is definitely grub2-mkconfig
. Alternatively, the whole process can be done using the make kernel build:
make xconfig (make, etc.)make the config, bzImageMake modulessudo make modules_installsudu yield install
This (last step) copies the kernel via / boot and updates the grub2 boot machine. Simple, very, and in my case it worked.Is small. My only problem is that someone does not understand the main aspects of the process, everything is automated. If you have problems and are wrong, you can bring something with you.

Try update-grub
or according to update-grub2
in your version of Grub. You can run it as root, sudo
. It worked for me when I added a second Linux distro without reinstalling Grub.

On Debian / Ubuntu systems it is built with update-grub
and also runs scripts in /etc/grub.d
using the same for undercarriage
.

If a new kernel is installed with dpkg (as if it were compiled with make-kpkg) update-grub2 is required (it also does not remove existing kernels)
