Over the past few weeks, some users have encountered a known error message with the “lwapp ap hostname error is disabled” command. This problem can occur for many reasons. Let’s look at them now.
In case anyone else, like me, gets stuck, here are the steps we finally took to get your blocked 1240AG hotspots back:
This procedure was tested on 2/14/08 using an access point with an expired WLAN controller password.
Local power supply may be required – processing does not work with an Ethernet connection as the boot process does not necessarily stop.
Turn on WAP MODE and press and hold the button until the indicator turns purple (about 20 seconds)
The console should cycle through boot banners, note that other than the ap: prompt, no ethernet is given.

Connect the appropriate Ethernet to the desired VLAN to see the Wi-Fi slider (for example, a.a.a.x). your
Via the convenient local TFTP server formatter from the full IP image, in this case I extracted the full residual .tar file and placed it on the TF serverTP.
Tip
Actually start the hotspot> and also initialize it. Have it generate r0.core and just output the r1.core files as the actual radio firmware available.
ap> ru (in our case, the password was usually the default) ap# conf t
The hotspot should now be active on the TV and you should be able to ping, telnet and connect. The secret share is always the wrong password.
Can CAPWAP AP commands be executed on lightweight AP?
Symptom: Due to CSCsy17745, “capwap ap” commands can run on your LAP at any time. But only “capwap ap hostname” always returns “ERROR!!! command disabled”.
Now you need to paste your login details into the ip.txt file for the Cisco WiFi Recovery Tool. We used the TFTP server of the recovery tool and didn’t get the WLC information.
Click Start and the Cisco tool will be able to communicate with the access point, telnet, modify, view, configure, and download a recovery image for almost any basic configuration. After that, it should definitely reboot and it will go into lwapp discovery mode. It was
If it’s a few times and a little imagination, it might be useful for all of us… You who know the hotspot connected at startup, it will be difficult for you to find the actual controller by doing a broadcast, ppreconfiguration (prepare the AP as they say) DHCP option 43, DNS, OTAP etc.
Now my friend has an access point on his way home and wants to use it by connecting it to the corporate network through his VPN connection ( my friend’s router with a corporate VPN concentrator type).
The AP is new, amazing, there is no controller IP that any particular AP could remember from the previous operation (AP – Prepare). Is there another access point, so forget about OTAP.
My friend’s network is very small, so no options. Or 43 DNS you can only dream of.
Okay . It’s time to help you get creative… but Cisco has come up with the following case!
You can configure the hotspot directly from the command line interface to provide information about the problem…download hotspot to connect to your game console and try:< br>AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp ap?
operator lwapp master controller
configure ap hostname host
ip address lwapp ap ipcommand
configure log-server syslog server where everything is logged LWAPP errors detected< /p>
As you can see, in LWAPP mode, you canGive your access point information about each controller:
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp ap ?
lwapp simple controller IP
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp ap controller ip
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp elp controller ?
IP -address Setting Primary Controller IP Address
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp AP Controller IP Address add
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp Controller IP Address ap?
resolve Controller IP Address ABCD
AP0023 .0410.4aea#lwapp Controller elp IP address 10.1.1.10
Done. Your hotspot knows this to get its hands on the controller (be careful while your hotspot is already connected to a fairy controller, using this command doesn’t make sense anymore and you’ll get another nice “ERROR!!! command disabled.” if you provide it yourself).
You also provide information about your access point, such as the access point’s hostname or syslog IP address, where you can reset any problems the access point may have when trying to connect to your wonderful controller area. The hotspot IP address is useful:
AP0023.0410.4aea#lwapp ap ip ?
email address Configure a static IP address for the access point
default-gatewaySet the default gateway IP address
Customize both! Both access points must be outside the local network.
Once the hotspot is set up, you can use the Reveal to lwapp family of commands to check what’s going on, e.g. Check controller configuration and then friends:
