Recently, some readers have informed us that they have encountered Oracle system error 5. Access Denied. Error 5 Access denied. Your computer may display an Error 5: Access Denied message. This application software installation error message indicates that someone does not have sufficient rights to install applications to the target system drive. Also, someone cannot access / modify the files stored there (no access to the installation directory).

I doubt this is an Oracle bug right now. What computer devices and operating system do you have, including the version in addition to the edition information.

I am using Windows 7 at home for the higher priced 64 bit version. Could you be more specific about media spending? I definitely don’tknow what someone means.

I just installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition and was shown to meb that it fits, but when I try to start everything, I get the message:

The problem is that the start and end processes really want to run as an administrator. Change the way you run Properties-> Shortcut-> Advanced-> as administrator and you should be fine
I am doubt it matters, it is an oracle error. What is the full version of the hardware and operating system, including account and release information.

I’m not sure if this important fact is the root cause of the error, but Oracle 10g XE (released Q1 2006) is never certified for Windows 7 (released Q4 2009).
The problem is that the startup and shutdown processes need to be run as administrator. Change properties-> Shortcut-> Advanced-> do the job as admin and you should be perfect
