Recovering Sony Recovery Discs

On most computers, you can create your own recovery media. See the instructions in the product guide.
Sony Electronics is no longer authorized to sell procedural recovery media for VAIO PCs ported from systems prior to Windows 7.
If your computer is running Windows 7 (or higher), the recovery media kit can be purchased from the Encompass supply chain at https://sony.encompass.com at 1-866-779-5153.

Custom computerUter does not come with a system recovery disc. Recovery data, which is often required to return your computer to its original factory state, is permanently stored on a dedicated partition on this hard drive. You can use this procedure to create a set of recovery discs from this data, which you can still use to restore the recovery partition, and then return your computer to its original state if necessary.

IMPORTANT:

• If your computer does not have a built-in optical CD / DVD drive, VAIO Care ™ will not display the Create Recovery Disc option. Connect an external direct connection before opening the VAIO Care Tool.
• The number of discs required to create a game depends on the model.
• Recovery discs are not a backup utility. To return to your top-level personal data, use the Rescue Data item, which becomes available after starting the computer workstation in one of the following ways:
  • Using some kind of F10 key.
  • Use nie recovery discs.
• If the Recovery and Recovery window is already open, skip to step 7.

1. Close all open programs.
2. When you plug in the power adapter, the power is not interrupted during a certain process.
3. Click the Start button, then select Touch All Finger Programs.
4. On the All Programs menu, click VAIOin the Care folder, then click VAIO Care.

   NOTE. If you are prompted for an administrator password, or if you are frequently asked to manage your account, enter the correct password or click Yes.

5. In the VAIO Care window, click Recovery and Recovery in the left pane.
6. In the Recovery and Recovery window, under Create Recovery Disc, click Start Create from Disc.
