Recovery Drive Tips Does Not Work With New Hard Drive

I installed an HP laptop (pavilion dv7-1245dx) with a fresh copy of Windows Vista and our hard drive died recently (Windows didn’t start right away and the hard drive scan kept failing, but I was able to access most my files using Knoppix as the boot operating system). I’ve never had to write Rescue for Discs onto my computer, so I’ve prepared new ones from HP. When I plugged in a new hard drive and inserted it into the operating system recovery disc, I received the following error message:

“This computer is considered not supported by system recovery discs, and you are using this system with recovery discs. ”

It looks like the computers that HP supplies now also have a recovery partition that must be used specifically for the recovery mechanism, even if the recovery discs are already in use. Contact HP for more information. We can say that you need to buy exactly the same hard drive. Or perhaps the delivery needs to be initiated in advance, as well as Vista, before it can be used.
Otherwise, installing Vista on a new PC from scratch will be cumbersome. If you have not updateditems from the factory you are using.
You need specific drivers as well as any updates already released.

All users should find one very useful immediately after purchasing several new ones. Create a PC backup that does not contain almost all complete installation discs.

If you do it yourself, devote at least eight hours of your amazing attention. Without a charger, this should be a slow process out of the box. The factory does this using the Vista image installed for this model. But you will have to go through the entire driver installation process.

(By the way, this is the case for most new computers currently on the market. It’s easy to use for imaging or other forms of backups. And drive failure rates OEM drives seem to be second best than expected.)

I called HP and I was really told that there was nothing they could do, but e If I want to pay a few hundred dollars, I can get the laptop under warranty and they will repair it for me. Short answer. Paying $ 200 to repair a computer that should have been five years old in the past few years is a special crime. Don’t go with them.

You have a legal right andfix it anyway by briefly hacking into HP’s production line and stealing a replacement.

I wanted to use our own method that you suggested as the last holiday – thanks for posting. However, I decided to try cloning the disk first, and it will probably be a sequence of events thatoray worked for me:

– Clone old hard drive using Clonezilla (LiveCD didn’t work for some reason so I used USB hug instead)
– Use Clonezilla to put image file to a new hard drive.
– Windows probably won’t boot – even modestly. The main partition cannot be mounted and may be using PuppyLinux
– I put the recovery DVD I received from HP, luckily it always said it would not work because of the hard drive
– Restart your computer, use escape and get a menu for options
– Select “Recovery” from one of the methods that included items such as boot options, BIOS, etc.
– Watch the screens and use. recovery partition (which could have been mounted -WAS-, although the other partition that was C: was not)
– Vista was reinstalled successfully as you can see the recovery partition

Hope this helps everyone who has the same problem as long as the medical septum is intact, like mine.
