Can you install Windows XP on a Mac?
If your MacBook is likely to be running OS X 10.7 “Lion” or later, or your version of Windows XP doesn’t have Service Pack 2 or later, you should definitely use virtualization to add Windows XP. However, Boot Camp is the only method that completely runs Windows as the native operating system on your Mac.
What your organization needs:
- Working bootable version of Windows XP SP2 (see note inside) + product key
- Bootcamp 2.1 driver for Windows (can be installed/copied from original Leopard Windows installation disc) li>
- Windows XP SP3 Installer
- Apple HFS+ Driver for XP
It is effective to use a clean theme from the XP installation disc. especially the version that comes with Service Pack 2 (time saver, quick and easy service packs later). Trying to end up using XP’s automatic native install may result in the drive never being read by the OSX BIOS while roaming. So save your time and you need the vanilla version.
