Why does my shop vac not turn on?
Try the power switch first to make sure the engine is on. If the power switch is working properly, check that the fan impeller rotates freely and is not obstructed. If the motor is energized and the motor rotates freely but the motor still does not run, replace the fan motor.

Can a shop vac overheat?
If your vacuum cleaner’s filter is dirty or damaged, air will not be able to pass through it completely. This can cause overheating, loss of suction power and a strong smell of fire or smoke. If you have recently started using a shop vacuum cleaner, remove the dirt with an air hose.
