Last week, some readers reported the discovery of Site Meter spyware. “Your smart meter stores and transmits simple information about the amount of calories your home is eating. Personal data Your name, address and bank details are not recorded or transmitted from the meter.

I am very sad to learn that SiteMeter, a renowned online betting company, has been offering specific ad cookie click tracking to online website visitors who use, read or hear its services since the last instance. This news is timely for me. In fact, this is what I learned by reading this article on the WordPress support forum.

In fact, no one noticed anything about all specificclick SiteMeter tracking or cookies before StatCounter posted that “StatCounter says no!” At the bottom of his official blog on March 25, 2007.

I sincerely hope that Sitemeter will resist this, contact the spam advertiser and try again. Otherwise, users can rest assured that hell can be paid.

So yes, it has been confirmed, Sitemeter claims that it looks like spyware has been exhausted.

UPDATE: Researcher just emailed me some compliance information.

Specificclick.net is a parent company of Specific Media. This was initially spotted by a new Digger who noticed that the Specific Media icon on the home page of Specificclick, which is oddly abundant, had disappeared from the internet.

Another interesting article on Digg indicates that, at the time of publication, Sitemeter has NOT yet updated its privacy policy to reflect the deal with certain media.

I think there are many peoplewho are really unhappy with Sitemeter. I wonder why Sitemeter wants to do it this way. Is the money problem? I think money shouldn’t be an issue for them as they are extremely popular and well served and the company also has a lot of paying end users. In any case, you will lose a certain number of free users or pay computer users.

1. Can smart meters spy on you?
