I wish I had some really smart networking specialists to help with this particular problem. Now those in my house who want to play RotMG keep getting the damn “Socket-Server Security: Error # 2048” error. What we have tried (tried a lot and suggested as a solution to a difficult problem in different forums):
- Restart the router.
- Disable the firewall completely on the router. All
- make sure the time and date on the computers or laptops are correct.
- Restart your computer.
- With Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Flash and Projector.
- A selection of different servers, their specific different “best and servers”.
- Use different computers.
- Try to log in for a few hours.

While trying (and failing) to connect to the flash, I lsof repeatedly used the projector to check for theft. And guess what? Connection to remote port 2050 is fully established, repeating:
