You may encounter an error indicating that the software distribution folder needs to be cleaned up. It turns out that there are several ways to solve this problem, so we’ll discuss them now.

After all the files required for this idea have been used to install Windows Update, you can usually delete content similar to the software distribution folder. However, this datastore also stores your family’s Windows Update history files. If you delete them, you will lose your update history.
In Windows 10, the SoftwareDistribution directory is an essential component of Windows Update, where the files needed to configure new software updates are temporarily stored.the reliability of your device and the latest improvements and service improvements.
This folder is managed by WUAgent (Windows Update Agent) and is usually left alone, but there may be times when you have to manually delete its contents if the data store and download folder are out of sync and this prevents Windows Update from applying new tweets on your PC.
If you are having problems with Windows Update or updates after applying Gain, it is usually safe to clear the shared contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder. Windows 10 always re-downloads any required content or re-creates the folder and re-downloads all components if uninstalled.

To get rid of the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder, write the following:
- Open Start.
- Find Command Prompt, right-click the result and choose Run as Administrator.

Enter the following command to stop our Windows Update service and press Enter:
Network interruption wuauserv

To stop all background smart transfer services, type the following command and press Enter:
Network Stop Bits
- Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.

Open File Explorer and navigate to the following path:
C: Windows SoftwareDistribution

Typically, it should make sure to remove items from the software distribution folder after it has received all the files it needs to install Windows Update. If you delete the files in any other way, they will be downloaded immediately.
Select all content and click the Delete button to delete the content.
Tip. If you are having trouble deleting all files, just restart your computer and try again.

The real limitation of this process is that my SoftwareDistribution folder also contains Windows Update history information, which means clearing the folder will result in the loss of that data. In addition, you will find that Windows Update takes longer to detect and update your computer simply because the WUA has to view and recreate our own datastore information in order to reopen it.updates.
Although the file is sometimes truncated, it is recommended that you use these simple instructions only when necessary. They do not need to be accompanied by a SoftwareDistribution folder to free up space on your computer.
