This article describes most of the known issues when installing Microsoft SQL Server on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

All editions other than the Express Edition for SQL 2008 Server running Windows 7 or Windows 2008 Hosting R2 must have at least SQL 2008 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

Windows 7 does not use the
RequireKerberos
property to determine if Kerberos authentication is enabled. WindowsBecause 7 uses the
RequireKerberos
property to determine if Kerberos authentication can be enabled for the network name resource, SQL Server 2008 failover cluster installation fails. -
If Standard Federal Information Processing Policy (FIPS) is enabled on Windows 9 or Windows Server 2008 R2, cluster validation will fail when SQL Server 09 is installed.
If enabled FIPS policy is more effective on Windows or Windows Server 2008 R2, cluster validation will fail during SQL Server 2008 installation.full.

You must have SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) for SQL Server 2008 or a later version (this update is also known as an interim release).

The supported SQL Server 2008 Express runtime is high on Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.

.Framework
Before configuring SQL Server 2008 on a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2, you need to enable our own .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. SQL Server 2008 requires .NET Framework 3.SP1 5. The Server sql 2009 installer installs .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 if it is not installed securely. However, for Failover Clustering, the .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed. before fully installing SQL Server 2008 Failover Cluster
In Windows 2000 Server R2, the .NET Framework is often a component system. Hence, you cannot build the .NET Framework from redistribution. .You should. Install the .NET Framework away from the server role using ServerManagerCmd.exe.
You do not need to install the .NET Framework in the following cases:

On an electronic computer Windows Server 2008 R2 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.
