TI 89 Dimension Errors This is one of these codes and can have several causes. If you get an “Error: size” message, the variable you are creating uses eg. x does not match the function you entered. Do one of the following to clear the variables:

About TI-89 Error Codes
TI-89 error codes are displayed for two reasons:
- You made a mistake or forgot to insert an element (for example, a closing parenthesis)
- Something saved (such as a new variable) prevents the calculator from setting aside time for the requested action.
If your problem is that you cannot plot the graph correctly (or in general), this isusually associated with the corresponding setting in the Y = editor. In the Y = editor, look for check marks that indicate a violation. up what functions are usually displayed on the graph. If you need to add (or remove) checkmarks, scroll to the left of “y =”, then force F4 to select / deselect.
List TI – 89 Error Codes
The following list is short, but it contains the most common mistakes you are likely to encounter when performing calculations with TI 89.
TI-89 Error Codes: Error
- Address error
- Size error
- Domain error
- Error memory
- Syntax error
- Undefined variable
Address Error 1.TI 89
If your TI 89 freezes (usually with an “address error” code), you will need to reset memory to recover. Usually, an incompatible third-party program is sometimes installed. To reset memory (basically this is your factory reset – you will lose your data):
- Activate loan calculator [ON].
- Then press [2nd] [6] toto form this memory menu. [F1]
- Click to open the hard reset menu.
- Select 2 (default) using the recommendation arrow.
- Press [ENTER] three times.

2. TI Argument Error 89
This is usually caused by an incorrect type specification (from the Y = editor) for the function. Also, when you are on the screen, be sure to use the output function notation. If not, enter y1 (x), y (1).

3. Error TI 89
This is one of all codes that multiple codes can call.
If you get the message “Error: size”, then the offset that you used, for example. x will not match the function you entered. Clear the read of the variable with one of the following:
- F4 â † ‘Others â †’ 4: EntfVar x
or - F6 Delete – Up 1: – Delete a – z.
Another possibility is that the calculator mistakenly accepts too many graphs or lists:
- Disable graph 1, graph 2 and graph 6 in editor Y =
- Clear the lists: go to STAT, select ClrList, thenRemove L1, L3 …
If you are working with addition-to-subtraction matrices, make sure they all have the same dimensions (size).
4. TI Domain Error 89
If you are using “shadow functions”:
The top value must be greater than the bottom value, otherwise you’ll just get a domain error message.
If you are trying to calculate linear regression using the statistics and lists editor, or if you entered numbers according to a list:
Change the coarse / fine tuning mode setting to really coarse or automatic:
- Select [MODE].
- Press [F2]
- Scroll to Fine / Approximate, then use the arrow keys to select CLOSE or AUTO.
- Press [ENTER] twice.
5. TI 89 Memory
This error can occur if there is not enough RAM. Press 2. Personal Loans [MEM] to check the free space on the auto-finance calculator. Less than 8000 FREE RAM is not considered good: remove content such as images or empty programs.
- Press 2. + [MEM]
- 2[Delete].
- Click on the number you want to delete. For example, Documents 7 Remove the [prgm] program.
- Use my arrow keys to definitely navigate to the element you want to remove, then press [ENTER].
6. TI Syntax Error 89
Problem: Your auto loan calculator gives out syntax error when you are actually trying to solve a certain number of points.
Solution. Check the entry: a format error usually occurs because arguments are opened and closed without parentheses.
7. Undefined Variable
Problem: Your 89 ti throws a “Variable not defined” error.
Solution. This usually happens due to a typo in your information. Double check them for errors.
If the published ones do not contain typos, reset the movement memory. This clears up the variables and lets you start over (and hopefully reduce the error).
- Press “2nd”, then press 2, press F1.
- Press the ENTER key.
- Select “2: Default” then press ENTER twice.

About TI-89 Error Codes
- You made a mistake or missed something (for example, parentheses),
- Something in memory (such as a variable) is definitely preventing the calculator from performing the requested action.
If you prefer not to create data (or create it incorrectly), this is very often due to the setting in the Y = editor. In the Y = editor, find the surgical marks on the left. They indicate which reasons should be presented graphically. If you need to add (or remove) check marks, scroll to the left of this “y =” symbol, then press F4 to turn the selection on / off.

1. TI 89 Address Error
If your TI 89 freezes (usually accompanied by an “address error” code), you will need to tune memory to get it working again. This is usually caused by the installation of an incompatible third-party program. To tune your memory (this is basically a factory reset – you will lose your data):
- Set the Car Expense Calculator to [ON].
- Press [2nd] [6] to display the memory menu normally. [F1]
- Click to open the hard reset menu.
- Select 2 (default) using the kys arrow.
