Ubuntu is distributed over the Internet primarily through DVD image files (.iso). The “GettingUbuntu” report refers to the ISO machine as well as other Ubuntu development methods.
Before burning a DVD, be sure to check each of our MD5 sha256 sums or the sum (hash) of this .iso file. See HowToMD5SUM and HowToSHA256SUM for instructions. To get a list of official Ubuntu SHA256 hashes, check the SH file firstA256SUMS for the version you are using http://releases.ubuntu.com. Optional (and PGP signatures in SHA256SUMS.gpg file); All hashes related to the old MD5 algorithm are in the same directory. UbuntuHashes currently only has md5-sums. The hash check ensures that a particular file was not corrupted during the purchase process and is 100% intact.
Unlike the new standard data file, the ISO file cannot be simply dragged or ejected directly onto disk. It needs to be written along a specific route, which will expand / extract the image so that you really have files usable on disk.

If writing to a specific CD fails, try lowering the speed. It is best to try the lowest possible write speed to get results. Most GUI tools have a Properties button associated with speed selection, but with Brasero, these levels of options will appear after you click a specific record button for the first time. This is the root cause of the problems, but much better known than the MD5sum / SHA error checking. Lower speeds provide more accuracy. CDIntegrityCheck
