It looks like some of our users have encountered a vdm agent access denied error message. There are a number of factors that can cause this problem. Let’s look at them now.

I have installed the VDM agent, but if I just go to RDP on my virtual machines, the RDP screen appears followed by a red cross box that says “VMware VDM Agent – Access Denied” / p>
Before going to RDP certification, I am getting this error message. None of the virtual machines have a firewall enabled, and this happens before using the Windows VDM client, for example, to connect to my pool. Mister. Use RDP directly from my Windows laptop.
Why is the VDM agent reporting that it will be denied before I can enter my credentials in regular RDP for the virtual machine?

When trying to run RDP on a virtual machine that appeared to be configured, the RDP screen closes and then a purple cross box appears that says “VMware VDM Agent – Access Denied.”
By default, VDM 2.1 City blocks RDP connections without VDM. This can be disabled as well by using Group Policies or a registry setting on the virtual machines.
The Group Policy file is added to the VDM Connectivity Server much less frequently than to the ADM subfolder.
The key entry to be set is “AllowDirectRDP” = “true”, which can be found in one of the following locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Policies VMware, Inc VMware VDM Agent Configuration
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE VMware, Inc VMware VDM Agent Configuration
If the “Policies” section may not have a VMware, Inc tree and the key may not be in this last subtree, just make it younger than the last one.

- Virtual desktop pools require the same hardware specifications (for example, vCPU, callback size, network name) as specified for professional virtual desktops. Adjust accordingly.
