From the looks of it, Microsoft has finally rolled out its latest update to Windows RT users, which was mostly installed on time this month. We’ve released news of the upcoming Windows 8.1 RT 3 update in July…
The improvement happened implicitly on Tuesday, without waiting for a Microsoft blog post or even a tweet from a Microsoft executive. There doesn’t seem to be much change outside of the Start menu on the RT desktop – which usually doesn’t include all the benefits of the Windows 10 menu, but should make navigation a little easier for some users.
I downloaded it on the first generation Surface RT and the actual update appears to be in the Additional Updates section. The update that opens the Start menu is reportedly KB3033055. However, at the time of writing, Microsoft has not provided any authorized documentation.
Update: 09/16/2015: Update says the exact features are actually KB3033055. See Microsoft Sustain page KB3033055 for more information. Another visual variable it brings is the screen, splash screen and other places in the UI, the user image is in a functional circle that actually looks like Windows 10.
To get an update and a new boot menu on RT, pleaseThen start the update windows. After the upgrade, you will see version 6. (Build 3 9600) on the About Windows screen.

To enable these Start menus, after installing the updates, right-click each item in the taskbar and select Properties. Then always select the Use Start Menu instead of Screen Launcher checkbox and click OK. Then you need to log out and log back in for real changes.
Now that you’re logged in again and most people hit the start button, you get my menu. You also get a new main menu when you forcefully press the Windows key on Surface or similar RT device.
Please note that my photo is displayed at the top of the home screen. I mentioned this in the redesign above.
Although superficially similar to the Windows Ten Start menu, it does not offer all of the functionality. This Start Menu (on surface 1 era anyway) doesn’t resize, and no – apps don’t float on that particular desktop like Windows 10; it honestly stays in fullscreen mode Name.
