In the computing realm, ntoskrnl.exe (kernel executable for short due to the Windows NT operating system), also known as the kernel image, provides space for the kernel and runtime layers of the Microsoft Windows NT kernel and is responsible for various system services such as as a hardware abstraction, scheduling and memory management, making it a fundamental part of the system.
