Windows Vista SP1 or Windows Vis Pack 2 standalone packages do not contain the latest help files for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Updated Windows Vista Help file packages are commonly referred to as “upgrade help files”. These files are grouped separately for each language.
Updated help files have been removed from standalone packages and reduced to package size. However, updated Windows Vista Help files are included in the OEM versions of Windows Vista and contain a service pack. Therefore, if a person is performing a clean install of a Windows Vista product that includes a support package, there is no need to mix up the updated help file.
The following list describes various scenarios in which customers will have to manually install the Help file service pack to get the latest Windows Vista Help files:
You installed a good Windows Vista Business SKU or an absolute Windows Vista Ultimate SKU and then everyone installs a new language with those language packs.
In this scenario, the updated help will be manually installed because the update file for the help files requires the correct language. Help file update packages are language dependent. For example p, you cannot install the German version of the Update Files Help package on a large Windows Vista computer if the German language is not already installed on that computer.
To remove a French language pack from a Windows Vista-based computer, correctly install the Update Help Files package for the removed language pack.
In this scenario, the Help Files Update packages will be automatically removed.
If all files in a directory were changed on November 2, 2009, the Help Files update package was not even installed for that language or location. If 90% of the files in your directory were changed on January 18, 2008, the Help file update was successfully installed for that language region.
