Independent laboratory testing AV-Test conducted a series of tests for the presence of antivirus / antivirus resources in Windows 8 and 8.1.
They compared two solutions for professional clients. For each of these people, these people tested the version in force at that time in November and December to increase confidence in these numbers. They compared Microsoft Center Endpoint Protection corporate and system solutions and consumer solutions in general with Microsoft Windows Defender.
AV-Test has compiled a rating of protection, performance and therefore usability for each of them. Each point goes from 0 to 6 and is added to our total score.
Protection is determined by the ability of these companies to block known and unknown malware. Products with a score of 6 blocked only one percent of malware, or came very close to it. Performance is a measure of the effect of elements on system speed, but AV-Test does not provide details on how these numbers were calculated. Usability is one of the functions of the number of significant false positives in various situations; “Usability” canIt may not be a bad word, but it is certainly a valuable indicator.
The flagship products will be Bitdefender, Trend Micro and Kaspersky, followed by F-Secure. Bitdefender tried not to get a 100% diagnostic score, but came very close. Trend Micro, Kaspersky and F-Secure are lagging behind in performance, but not much.

Bitdefender Kaspersky received outstanding results, followed by Avira, F-Secure, Qihoo and G Data. Many products are recognized for ease of use, but otherwise unobtrusive and mediocre, including Kingsoft, which received two points for performance and 3.5 for protection. Nine products have received On 6 protection, the most important category, but some of them have a negative impact on system performance.
The two charts show the percentage of malware blocked by a product user during testing in December.
