FATXplorer 3.0 ‘beta’ Introduced 14 newly developed formatting tools that offer the first time OG Xbox formatting and various Xbox 360 formatting enhancements. Beta 15 fixes various formatting tool issues and also adds a new suggestion: formatting / creating file. 15

Why Format The File?
- It provides an easier way to test formatting tools. You don’t need real mechanics to try it out now.
- The formatted track is fully usable / buildable in FATXplorer, which means that users can try out most of the features of FATXplorer without needing a real device.
- For wearing, xemu is the original Xbox emulator. xemu can use disk images, and thosepen you can use FATXplorer to create them of any size.
While it is possible to restore a file to a device of the exact size, it is not very good, as it is usually a waste of points, and it is much faster to directly format a specific device and then copy your own content.

You choose the same types of methods as before, but now you will be sure to indicate if you want to format the awesome file instead of the real device.
This is where you choose where to store the file, as well as its exact size. Min and Buttons Max may be available for simplicity. Clicking on it will set the measurementsf at the smallest and largest device size corresponding to the selected device type. For example, if you press Min while formatting a large OG Xbox MU, 12 KB will be entered and Max will be 4 GB. Except for the minimum and maximum values, you can also enter any size in this surprising range. Just make sure you have enough space for the backup file as this may be the exact size you know it will be created on your music file system. There is no expandability / maximum dynamic size like VHD.

If you enable this option twice, the entire payloadThe file will be discarded before formatting. This can be very tedious and usually not required unless you want to share the file with others, perhaps you just need a clean, zeroed out file for some reason.
If you do not activate the element (the default value of the parameter), the file will be created, but not zeroed out. Until then, that means, for example, if customers created a 1 TB file, that file would end up with 1 TB of deleted data from your computer. Windows usually does not allow this for privacy reasons, but FATXplorer uses the Windows API (SetFileValidData) to prevent data placement. If Windows is unable to reset the file, the time it takes to format almost any large file makes a big difference. For example, if you format a 1TB working Xbox OG hard drive (as shown above), the difference is 68MB writing versus 3TB writing + 68MB data. Other Modifications
Various other fixes and improvements have been made to the formatting tools. Added a Reboot button to make it easier to restart the wizard if changes need to be made, and now devices larger than a few TB are handled correctly. Click this article to view the latest release notes.
What To Do Next?
Expected feature at this time is support for formatting Xbox 360 USB drives larger than 2TB. In particular, this requires xeBuild fixes. The suffering will be similar to the USB formatting / fixing features that FATXplorer had a few years ago, which increased the limit to TB seconds (until Microsoft did it itself in a future system update).
There is also an option to add the ability to format internal hard drives larger than 2TB for the OG Xbox and Xbox 360. This is more tedious than USB (which was already a bithard). No news is expected on this today, and limited memory on consoles may make this impossible. Let’s see !

New Formatting Tools
FATXplorer has been using formatting tools for months, if not years, but they are only available for the Xbox 360. Support for genuine Xbox hard drives and storage devices is now available. There are many options for formatting genuine Xbox hard drives, depending on the BIOS that is no doubt installed on the console, and a lot of effort has been put in lately to cover every scenario. The Xbox 360’s formatting options have also been improved with new features, and the general inconvenience has indeed been addressed.

With the File Explorer app built into your current Xbox One, you can create and open files from your computer. You will need to save these files to an external USB drive and plug it into one of the console’s USB ports.
Xbox One does not use FAT32, Xbox 360 uses FAT32, and Xbox One uses NTFS. If you’re having an issue with an Xbox One that barely sees your external hard drive, make sure the external hard drive is NTFS formatted and meets these requirements. It uses a USB 3.0 connection.
