So you’ve upgraded your personal Windows and Windows 7 Server 2008 R2 laptops to Service Pack 1 (SP1) and everything works fine. You have checked your policies and did not encounter any compatibility conditions, so now you want to delete the SP1 backup files. Here’s how to do it.
Note. FThe service pack backup files allow you to uninstall the SP1 installation by moving the operating system to RTM. After deleting the backup files, it is no longer necessary to reboot the system to make sure the system is working properly with SP1 before deleting the files with errors.
The process for deleting a backup copy of the service pack data file is the same in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Deleting the SP1 backup files will restore 540 MB of system drive for Top 7, Windows and approximately 1.3 GB for Windows for Server 2008 R2.
- Click the Start button and select various cleaning options in the search bar to manage Disk Utility cleaning.
- Scroll down the list of files to remove and select Service Pack Backup Files as shown below:
