Please note that some of the information on the Microsoft site is out of date and inaccurate, primarily for Outlook 2003, 2007-2010. In particular: 1. Ignore any advice to duplicate Outlook PST file in default environment to associate it with your profile. Doing this frequently will hurt your Outlook stock portfolio. It copies the standard phrase everywhere BUT then opens it in your Outlook profile. 2. Ignore any advice that prompts you to export or import the entire Outlook data file. He never gives sound advice, but the experience is too flawed to be trusted.

As with the POP3 account, your own contacts are stored in your main PST file (not your IMAP account). When backing up the PST file in question, your contacts will also be listed. If you’ve only configured one IMAP account in Outlook, your contacts will be saved in a large folder called This PC Only.
For Outlook 2007 also earlier: C: Users AppData Local Microsoft Outlook. Select the Show hidden files checkbox to show them. For Outlook 2010: C: Users Documents Outlook Files. You need to go to Folder Options> View tab and check the box next to Show hidden files and folders .
